Only a small part of the Museum’s collections can be displayed in our public galleries at any one time.  Items which are not currently on display, and held in Reserve Collections, can be viewed with a member of the curatorial staff by appointment.  Details of the Museum’s library and manuscript collections can be found on our Research pages.

The Museum also wants to make these collections available in a number of other ways.

Recent Acquisitions gives a list of highlights of new additions to the collections.

The Museums major Sea Your History project digitised 15,000 items from 20th century collections and is available via its own website.

Keep an eye on the Forthcoming Events page for details of our next Behind the Scenes tours of the collection stores.

Please consider making a gift to help us care for our collections and to help people get to see them. Click here for details of how to do so.
